An extensive settlement enclosed by a huge defensive wall thrived from early Iron Age up to the Roman times. The ridge on which the settlement was built has extensive terraces. This hillfort is one of the best preserved and thus the most important remnants of the times in Slovenia. It bears witness to the continuity between the Iapydic Illyrian culture and the hillfort culture of the Upper Pivka Valley.
