The Reka river separates the Mount Snežnik massif from Brkini. Before it disappears underground into the Škocjan Caves, its shady banks, the old saws, mills and dams offer unique fishing opportunities bound to light up the soul of any true fisherman. Trouts thrive here, and there are pikes, zanders and other fish awaiting you in Reka Valley's soothing embrace.
Reka is a mixed salmo-cyprinid district. In its deep waters you can try to catch the exceptional Soča trout (Salmo trutta marmoratus), carps and chubs, while in the faster, shallower parts pikes, zanders and rainbow trouts await you. The fish of the Reka river are smart, so patience and perseverance are highly advised.
Supreme fly fishing locations stretch along the river from Ilirska Bistrica all the way to the Škocjan Caves, the Novak mill at Topolec, places below Smrje and the Prem Castle as well as by the bridge leading to Ostrožno Brdo and on to the Vreme Valley.
