Secluded and peaceful valleys cut deep into the flysch of Brkini welcome eager tourists. Adorned by pristine nature and crystal-clear waters, their solitude and remoteness have been providing a safe haven from the ills of the world for ages. Near Zalesje, one of these valleys hid an entire hospital hidden during World War II, and the Posrtvica Valley is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails leading through the forest, along the stream and across seven bridges to a cozy little hamlet.
