Brkini is a land of undulating hills, deep forested valleys, and nice ridgetop villages with ancient orchards and pastures below. The old, welcoming cultural landscape stands in striking contrast to the wilderness of Mount Snežnik. The Klivnik and Mola lakes brim with fish, orchids grow on the lush meadows, rabbits jump across the fields and a herds of deer observe the area from the edge of the forest. This is the world as it once was – a glimpse into the past, when we still lived in harmony with the nature instead of having to fight for its preservation.
