The park by the railway station is managed by the Railway Society of Ilirska Bistrica. The two engines, museum carriage and water tower are among its main attractions.

The Breda engine is the only remaining locomotive that once used to haul people and cargo all across Yugoslavia. The museum carriage was built in 1917 at the Royal Railworks of Königsfeld near Brno. It was renovated in 1986 and is reputedly the most beautiful carriage of the Slovenian Railways.
