The imposing monument on the Freedom Hill, right in the center of Ilirska Bistrica, was designed by sculptor Lenassi and architect Baraga. Underneath the monument is a crypt which contains the remains of fallen freedom fighters. The iconic sculpture was part of a modern architecture exhibition in MOMA New York.
