The ravages of war did not spare Ilirska Bistrica. This memorial cycling trail will lead you from the Hill of Freedom with its imposing monument to the freedom fighters, through the shaded Posrtvica creek valley and on to Ostrožno Brdo and the Zalesje Partisan Hospital. As you return to the Reka Valley, you can head towards Pivka and see the Park of Military History – and if that route is too much for you, come back to Ilirska Bistrica to refresh yourself!
