Mašun is an old forester's settlement in the heart of the vast forests of Snežnik. Mašun forest learning trail is in close proximity to the settlement and runs through the most beautiful part of the woods, which is called "the park", because it is protected and cared for. This makes it even more attractive to visitors and nature lovers. Circular route starts at the information platform in front of the Mašun restaurant.

A part of the Mašun forest learning trail follows the path of princess Anna to Anna's rock, where visitors can admire a magnificent view of the northern slopes of the Snežnik mountain, which is 1796 mjetres high. Under Anna's rock there is a real bear's lair that you can visit.

The Snežnik and Javorniki high-karst mountains are mostly covered with Dinaric fir-beech and altimontane beech forests, which are home to a large number of plant and animal species, including rare and protected ones. The fact that the forests are well preserved and healthy shows that the work of many generations of foresters and forest owners has been careful, planned and professionally performed.

It is suitable for all who can walk diverse forest paths; trecking shoes are recommended. At the end of the trail you can also visit the Mašun Forest House.
