The custom of vizita in Ilirska Bistrica dates back to the time of Maria Theresa, when young boys were drafted into the imperial army. Despite the fact that military service is not obligatory in Slovenia, the revival of a long tradition and cultural heritage is extremely important.
Familiarization with military service, prepared by the Ministry of Defense, the Postojna Defense Administration, with the support of the Municipality of Ilirska Bistrica and TIC Ilirska Bistrica, begins in the parking lot behind Dom na Vidmu. Young boys and girls put on white shirts, fasten a flower and a ribbon, and arrive with a waggon decorated with many flowers made of crepe paper.
