The true mountain trail begins at the start of the GHD Ilirska Bistrica-Šembije hill-climb race. The climb towards Šembije is easy. They, towards Knežak and the village of Zagorje, which was once proclaimed the most beautiful village of Slovenia. Carry on as you make your way towards Bač and Koritnice, which is where the stuff really starts getting real. A 7-kilometer climb with an average slope of 6 % will bring you to the highest point of the trail, which is 1,100 meters above sea level. A gentle descent leads to Mašun. From there, take the road to Koritnice and return via Knežak and Šembije.
